Beware of New Photographers | Fine Art Portrait Photography

No matter where you are these days it seems as though you will find someone taking a picture with their phone or digital camera and every new mom and Uncle Joe are calling themselves photographers. Now I’d hate to burst your bubble if this sounds like you but just because you have toyed with a fancy camera or have taken a few great pictures with an iPhone this doesn’t make you a professional photographer. Unfortunately, thanks to technology today and social media we are used to seeing a bunch of mediocre images every day and the world is being taught that this is what photography looks like now. This just isn’t true!

Read more about this topic and how I feel as a professional photographer.

Parenting Advice | Family Portraiture

I had a wonderful time creating #FamilyPortraiture with Russ Jones who is a stay at home dad, blogger and author of a cool and useful potty training book. It is always a pleasure to work with a creative family and we even took some very different and fun photographs of Russ and his two boys to use on his blog. Read the link to find out about his new book, Potty Training Doesn't Have to Stink, and get some parenting advice from this #FamilyPhotographer. http://linnealenkus.com/blog/2014/06/11/family-portraiture/

Inspiration From Earth Day | Portrait Photographer

Yesterday was EarthDay which reminded us to be extra gentle to our planet .

I make a point to eat organic foods and use products in my everyday life that are significantly less harmful for the environment. This is hard to do when you are a focused mother of 3 and a portrait photographer with two Los Angeles photography studios, but how I treat my body and the planet is necessary to me.

It is never too late to start taking care of yourself and the planet. I hope that this inspiring quote from Buddha set to my studio photography helps to inspire you to recognize the beauty in our planet and ourselves and motivate you to start being proactive today.

What are you waiting for? Pick up some extra trash, plant a tree or ride your bike instead of using your car. Buy local and organic! Most of all take care of yourself and your family.

What did you do special for our Earth yesterday? Can you do it every day?

Natural light is very complementing for all types of portraits and choosing an outdoor location provides a personal feel and adds a new color palette to your portraits. Capturing the beauty of your loved ones is always a good photographer’s goal whether the photography session is in the studio or out in the world and an on location session allows a bit more room for the kids to run around in and be their true playful selves.

Portrait Prep | Fine Art Photography Sessions

A fine art portrait photography session is a purposeful investment that takes planning. The preparation can be stressful as you get the kids, hair, and wardrobe ready  for the lights, camera, action! The booking process at my studio works to provide you with the answers to help you prepare and properly plan for your studio session, and we always have strategies and suggestions that we feel are extremely helpful. Today’s suggestion? Relax!

Too often we see the stress of family events filter down from parent to child.  It can be stressful to be part of a portrait photography session, but it should really just be a new memory and a day of celebration. There should be no need for a family member or child to leave the experience feeling like they spent the day under a magnifying glass.

Portraits are complex, and to summarize the love of a family or the excitement growing within an expecting mother is a great task. Leave the tough work to the professionals. Your job is to arrive to the session with a calm mind and spirit ready to interact with your loved ones as you normally would. If you are focusing on trying to get your child to smile then not only are you not ready to be photographed but the child may have the photographer and several others focused on them. All of that hyped up energy can wear on a child especially in a new environment. Trust your fine art photographer and let them interact with your child.

I have been perfecting the art of portraiture for over twenty years now and I assure you that a relaxed family makes for the the greatest photographs!

Nude Portrait Photography Southern California

Anecdotes connected exactly why the best special new customers come to my photography studios just for nude creative photography will often be memorable, particularly the story related to our clientele Helen. A real   Hospice worker, Helen phoned for in order to set up an actual boudoir image photo session. The two of us actually do a substantial amount of conversing during photography sessions and many the particular accounts which we each share will definitely be tremendously heartfelt and additionally personal, and this boudoir shoot was not different.

boudoir portraits

She revealed to me one particular life-altering talk while at work which in turn prompted her to experience a nude portrait created of herself.

A 90-year-old woman was staying within her medical facility where my customer worked and had been having elevating degrees of proper care as well as aid to try and do straight forward tasks. On top of the woman’s bed hung some sort of wonderful, fine art nude photo having to do with a much younger female shot many years previously. Upon inquiring as to why this artwork had been placed above her bed, She was told by the old lady, “My children mounted that photography over my bed so I could possibly fully grasp my true beauty.  The unwanted as well as worn girl you see fading away inside of this declining frame is simply far from who I am.” Pointing gently up to the photograph, this woman explained, “This definitely is who I really am.” Created when the woman was a young girl, quite a brave girl at that with regard to those times, the woman valued this specific boudoir art about her form as well as it goes without saying, associated with it. It was her! It was indeed the lady's shape eternally.

I have created a great number of fine art boudoir portraits and have heard all of these women's experiences nevertheless Helen’s experience about this specific woman has stuck with me. This story honestly produces chills after I repeat the story.

That is a stunning treat to provide ones’ self: the actual memory concerning wherein we have originated from and the comprehension that our spirits aren't restricted to a specific physical appearance.  Helen became enlightened to record her own lifetime, and typically the photography emerged as they definitely were created; invaluable, timeless, not to mention complete with meaning.

Baby Portraits Long Beach

Wow! Time has passed quickly. I realize that I've been in the photography life for over twenty years, and I've created portraits of countless babies. When I create a portrait of a infant, I am in awe because we are all inspired by this innocent person and a incredible spirit who inspires the caring of my attention. I get excited to be asked to photograph a new family.
